How is Slovak gastronomy doing in terms of hospitality?

How is Slovak gastronomy doing in terms of hospitality?

Sola Switzerland at the (un)conference GastroLove in Piešťany
Sola Switzerland at the (un)conference GastroLove in Piešťany

For one day, Piešťany became the center of Slovak gastronomy and hospitality. The fifth edition of the (un)conference Gastrolove brought together top chefs, hoteliers, winemakers, and professionals to discuss hospitality – the main theme of this year’s event.

Since 2018, the (un)conference Gastrolove has been helping professionals in gastronomy and hospitality rediscover their passion and love for their work, to keep evolving and improving. It shows that gastronomy is, above all, about love for the craft and for guests. This event has won the hearts of hoteliers, chefs, students, entrepreneurs, managers, and waiters – simply everyone who sees the beauty of this field and wants to succeed in it. We are delighted to be part of it starting this year.

The event was opened by a quartet of male chefs – Patrik Pokrývka (Hotel Lomnica), Marek Minarič, Jozef Breza (Gašperov mlyn), and Jaroslav Žídek (Riverbank restaurant Bratislava) – strong names in Slovak gastronomy who shared their experiences from both Slovakia and abroad.

The discussion about how hospitality begins right at the restaurant door featured Ján Chovanec, chef Daniel Tilinger from ECK restaurant, and ECK sommelier Peter Lunter.

After engaging and insightful discussions, guests enjoyed lunch in the courtyard of Elektrárne Piešťany, served by KEMA on our Lunasol porcelain.

After the inspiring talks, we enjoyed a sweet break with desserts from the Trnava-based patisserie Rebarbora, with whom we joined forces. All the cakes were presented by owner Barbora Martinusová on Lunasol porcelain. Barbora introduced her French-inspired patisserie, which is her dream come true. More than 800 pastries of various kinds and flavors were crowned by a choux pastry tower that amazed everyone present.

The atmosphere in the premises of Elektrárne Piešťany was friendly, inspiring, and truly filled with hospitality – a value that is also close to our brand. We believe that the Slovak gastro scene has great potential, and we are happy to have been part of it at Gastrolove.

We would like to thank the organizers and partners for the opportunity to be part of it – and all guests for a beautiful day full of flavors and inspiration.
