CUTLERY
Are there any differences between Sola Switzerland cutlery?

The differences between cutlery are both qualitative and related to design. Sola Switzerland distinguishes four product lines within its portfolio.
Platinum Line: luxury cutlery line with hollow handles.
Premium Line: high-quality hot-forged cutlery with a thickness of over 5 mm.
Master Line: cold-forged cutlery with a wide range of designs and surface finishes.
Elite Line: pressed and machine-processed cutlery that combines functionality, simplicity and an affordable price.

What is the difference between Sola Switzerland cutlery marked CR and CNS?

The difference between the CR and CNS markings lies in the composition of the steel and its resistance to corrosion. CNS refers to chromium-nickel steel, which achieves higher corrosion resistance thanks to its nickel content. CR refers to chromium steel without nickel content, which means its corrosion resistance is lower.

What do the markings 18/10 and 18/0 mean for Sola Switzerland cutlery?

When assessing cutlery in terms of corrosion resistance, the numbers 18/10 and 18/0 indicate the ratio of chromium and nickel in the steel alloy from which the cutlery is made.
The marking 18/0 means that the alloy contains 18% chromium and 0% nickel. 18/10 indicates an alloy containing 18% chromium and 10% nickel.
The nickel content in the steel alloy makes the steel softer, but at the same time improves its quality and increases its corrosion resistance. Cutlery without nickel content is harder, but less resistant to rust.

Can I wash Sola Switzerland cutlery in the dishwasher?

Unless stated otherwise, cutlery can be washed in the dishwasher.

Can my Sola Switzerland cutlery rust?

Although Sola cutlery is made of stainless steel, this does not mean that it can never be affected by corrosion. Corrosion most commonly occurs due to incorrect washing or leaving cutlery in a damp environment.

How can I remove cutlery marks from porcelain plates?

For gentle cleaning of sensitive surfaces, we recommend a cleaner that effectively removes metal marks and scratches.

MATERIALS
What materials are used in Sola Switzerland cutlery production?

The main material used for the production of Sola Switzerland cutlery is stainless steel 18/10 (CNS), which contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel. It is characterised by high corrosion resistance, long durability and hygienic properties. It is non-magnetic, recyclable and its surface can be polished repeatedly.
Cutlery made from 18/10 steel is suitable for dishwasher cleaning as well as manual cleaning with mild detergents; however, sudden temperature changes are not recommended.
Another material used is chromium steel 18/0 (CR), which contains 18% chromium and no nickel. It is therefore also suitable for people with a nickel allergy. It is characterised by high hardness, durability, hygienic properties and is magnetic. It is mainly used for the production of cutlery knives and other cutting parts.
Compared to 18/10 steel, it is less resistant to corrosion and chemical influences, but it is suitable for both dishwasher cleaning and manual cleaning with mild detergents.

Bone China porcelain is heat-resistant up to 220 °C, has an ivory colour and stands out for its low weight and high resistance to chipping, scratching and breaking. It is suitable for use in the dishwasher and microwave oven.

What properties does Sola Switzerland glass have?

Glass from Sola Switzerland is designed with an emphasis on clarity, durability and practical use in professional gastronomy. Meta Glass® is high-quality lead-free crystal glass that stands out for its exceptional brilliance and elegant appearance. At the same time, it offers increased resistance to impacts and is suitable for dishwasher cleaning.

What other materials does Sola Switzerland use?

Sola Switzerland also uses melamine and silicone in its products, which are particularly suitable where durability and easy maintenance are important.
Melamine is a very hard, hygienic material that is resistant to impacts and scratches. It withstands temperatures from approximately -30 °C to +70 °C and is suitable for dishwasher cleaning. However, it is not suitable for use in a microwave oven.
Silicone withstands temperatures from approximately -70 °C to +180 °C. It is suitable for both dishwasher cleaning and microwave use, making it practical for everyday use.
Wood is a natural material with a characteristic grain pattern and an attractive appearance. It requires gentle care and should not be exposed to moisture for extended periods.
Textiles are mainly used for products where flexibility, practicality and easy maintenance are important. The cleaning method and washing temperature should be adapted to the specific type of material and the care instructions provided with the product.
PVC is a durable and easy-to-maintain material with good resistance to moisture and everyday use. The surface should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild cleaning agents.

Can wooden products be washed in the dishwasher?

No, products made of wood are not suitable for dishwasher cleaning.

Where can Sola Switzerland products be purchased?

You can purchase Sola Switzerland products directly at Sola Point – the store located at the headquarters of Sola Switzerland, at Novozámocká 1065 in Ivanka pri Nitre.
